Travel was not that easy back in 1935 – to reach Eretz Israel for the Maccabiah games athletes had to be away for months at a time, considering the long travel back and forth. But the excitement for the event made up for the lengthy travel – this photo shows a group of athletes from Maccabi USA on their way to Eretz Israel on the ship. They had to keep in shape despite the long travel so they were running on the ship’s deck. Maccabi USA team reached 3rd place in total score at the 2nd Maccabiah games in 1935.
