Jewish sports club were about more than just sport. The clubs grew within local Jewish communities and cultural events were a big part of their appeal. While Jewish sports club grew within their respective communities being part of the global Maccabi World Union movement allowed access to global events and interstate games. Joining a Jewish Sport club at the time required paid membership – payment was done monthly through the purchase of Maccabi stamps. Stamps were issued on a monthly basis and served as proof of membership payment – this is a collection of 12 stamps, one for each month of the year. The names of the months appear in hebrew as per their Jewish calendar names and in English according to the Gregorian calendar ones.
